MISSOURI OPEN CONTAINER LAWS
This is Greg Klote from Mutrux Finney, P.C. and today we’re going to talk about open container in the State of Missouri.
Now, typically Missouri is a very liberal state with open container laws. Actually the only State law that prohibits open containers is open containers with a driver of a vehicle. That means the state allows open containers with passengers riding in the driver’s vehicle, but there is an exception to this. The exception is that the cities municipalities can regulate the open container laws. So in the State of Missouri you may be travelling in one city or one county that does not have an open container law and you go into the next city or county and they do have an open container law. So you just have to be careful when driving from city to city and know who has these types of laws and who doesn’t.
