WHAT IS SR-22 INSURANCE AND HOW LONG DO I NEED IT?

Attorney Tyson Mutrux discusses in this video SR-22 Insurance and how long it’s needed after a Missouri DWI.

Hi, Tyson Mutrux here again with the Mutrux Law Firm, and today I’m answering the question of, “What is SR-22 insurance, and how long do I need it?”

SR-22 insurance is simply an additional amount that you pay to the insurance company for them to contact the Department of Revenue, letting them know that you do have insurance and there have been no gaps in coverage. That’s all it is. There’s no magic to it, it’s pretty simple. How long you need it with a DWI, you’re going to need it for 3 years. So, that’s 3 years and the clock stops every time you break in coverage. So, if you ever stop paying on SR-22 insurance it’s not going to count against that three years for you. So make sure you keep paying, make sure you keep the SR-22 insurance for as long as you need it. Hope that answers your questions.
