What is a Cross Examination?

Attorney Tyson Mutrux describes in this video what is a cross-examination?

Hi! Tyson Mutrux here with the Mutrux Law Firm. Today I’m answering the question of, “What is a cross-examination?” This is another one of those terms you’ve probably heard on all those legal shows. “Cross-examination, it’s a big part of the case.” All it is, it’s your opportunity to ask the other side’s witnesses questions. That’s it. Nothing else. On cross-examination you’re able to lead the witness; on direct examination, you’re not. Meaning, you’re able to basically lead them down the path of questions. For example, “Isn’t it true that…?” or “Didn’t you know that…?” or things like that where you can lead them. They’re loaded questions. It’s much different from direct examination where you’ve got to ask a lot of open-ended questions.

Hopefully that helps answer your question of, “What is a cross-examination?” If you have any other questions about that, give us a call at (888) 550-4026 or check us at www.mutruxlaw.com. Thanks a lot and have a great day.
